When I asked participants which of the digipaks they
preferred, the majority really liked Pixie Lott’s album cover. The pretty
pastel colours are very feminine and fit Lott’s brand, while also contrasting
with the neon text. Contrasting colours are very good at drawing emphasis to
important aspects of the cover, and I will use this when designing my own
digipak. The digipak features an image of the artist, which is what I plan on
doing when producing a cover for Palmer. Viewers liked this, because you can
easily see whose album it is. Furthermore the intense eye-contact engages the
viewer. The styling of her hair and her body language presents her as shy and
innocent.
Participants didn’t like Amelia Lily’s album because
it is too bright, or Kelly Clarkson’s because it is too dull. Creating
something in the middle will avoid these issues.
